Day # 1 Friday March 4th-5th-The longest airplane ride, EVER!

The day finally arrived, it was March 4th 4am Burlington International Airport. I had not slept that night because I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep and I knew that I would be catching up on much needed sleep on the airplane-so I didn’t even bother.
The first flight was to Newark, NJ with a four hour layover until our next direct flight to Beijing.  I regret not taking as many photos as I had anticipated, because when you are traveling for 20 + hours—taking photos at the airport is not really on the agenda, at least for me that is. But I did mange to pull my camera out from my 40lb back pack as I was really bored, and snapped some shots of my wonderful classmates.
Here’s George: He’s really happy!

Here’s Abby: She’s eager to get on the airplane!

Two Chinese boys! We’re getting closer to our destination!

So we finally boarded the airplane to Beijing. The total flight time was about 14 or 15 hours. This was the longest airplane ride I have ever been on, EVER! The ride was surprisingly not that bad because most of the time you are either sleeping, eating or watching a movie. I watched one movie called Black Swan-let me tell you, that was a very strange movie. The airplane food was interesting too- they served three meals and a snack in between and the meals weren’t entirely terrible.
This was the menu if you were curious:

Some 15 hours later we landed in Beijing. And the airplane ride didn’t stop here. We had another 2 hour flight to Wuhan. Then as soon as we arrived in Wuhan, we hoped on a bus that looked like a caterpillar

and drove about an hour to get to our hotel. By then we were all exhausted from 20+ hours of traveling.
This is the front of our hotel. Most buildings were lit up like this at night, I felt like I was in Mario Kart.
No time for rest when you're in planet China! We walked around the shopping areas in Wuhan.
This is when my obsession with Chinese babies begin, they're so cute!

So after walking around Wuhan for a couple of hours, it was time to go to bed to get some much needed rest. The beds in China are uncomfortably hard by the way.
