Day #2- Out and about Wuhan and Home Stays (Sunday March 6th)

We woke up bright and early to get breakfast at a street market in downtown Wuhan. The food was exceptionally tasty, street food is awesome! Their famous Hot-dry noodles was super yummy (I’m getting hungry as I’m thinking about it). The chefs would first cook the fresh noodles mixed with sesame oil in boiling water. Once the noodles have been cooked and cool, you are ready to dress up the noodles with all sorts of sauces and topped off with spring onions. One bowl only cost one Yuan!  I also tried some type of dumpling, rice pancake, stinky tofu, steam buns, and sugar cane juice all of this was shared too of course.

On our way to the street food!

The Hubei Provincial Museum is the best-known museums in China. On exhibit there they had The tomb of Marquis Yi Zeng, Writing History, Chu Culture, Yunxian Man, Panlongcheng, Tomb of Prince Liangzhuang, Luminaries in Hubei during a century, The Art of Lacquered Articles in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and The Art of Earth and Fire.

We also watched a musical performance of ancient bells and other various instruments.

We then returned to the school where we would meet our host families. We were divided into pairs for our two-day stay with the family. Emily Krol was my partner in crime. Echo and her mother Francis greeted us and off we went to dinner where we met her father. The dinner was way beyond my expectations-we had dinner at this super fancy French restaurant-9 course meal to be exact. The Lei’s were very hospitable and treated us like we were part of the family. I felt right at home.

Very happy family!
