Day #4- Tuesday March 8th: I’m on a bus! I’m in a cave! Now I’m on a boat!

That morning we said our good-byes to Steve and the students. We were leaving for a four and a half hour journey west to the Three Gorges Dam area near the Western city of Yieching.

Two hours in we stopped to get some food at this really cool restaurant. The restaurant was in a cave looking out in the yonder of the Yangtze River. There was never a time in China where I was hungry, they always feed us so much food! After stuffing our faces, we took an unexpected hike to a magical cave. I wasn’t expecting to find a cave, I initially thought that we were just walking around up 300 stairs so we could walk off the food, but the cave was a wonderful surprise.

We then continued on our journey on the bus. More sleep for me. Finally we arrived on our boat cruise…This boat was considered fancy for Chinese standards. The rooms had two hard beds, a chair, tiny, closet, and shower/toilet combo bathroom thingy. We also didn’t have towels and learned that there was no heat, and we were staying on the boat for two nights! But we all learned to adapt fairly quickly despite all of this.
After settling in, all the Camp Mojoers spent some time hanging out on the deck. We passed through some kind of lock water transport chamber, the chamber was filled up with water and we rose about 100 feet, then off we went! We also passed the Three Gorges Dam in the middle of the night when we were all sleeping, so we didn’t get to see it. I was slightly sad.
